What is a writing mentor?
Writing mentorship, at its core, is the belief that all writers are the experts on their own creative processes, and all writing is inherently interactive and responsive. Writing mentorship is the belief that writers are a peer community with a collective creativity and a common goal: to experience humanity and life through creative process.
Mentoring, unlike traditional “book coaching” or classroom instruction, centers a process-driven approach to creative development and publication goals. It allows the writer to develop their voice, explore creative impulses, and connect with deeper artistry in joyful, peer-to-peer, humanizing experiences.
At THE WRITING MENTORS, LLC, we help writers connect with mentors to develop creatively, deepen their writing practice, improve their craft, and find publication support.
Are you a writer who needs support reconnecting with a sustainable creative practice? Have you always dreamed of writing a book, and now finally feels like the time? Do you have a great idea or a good first draft and need help making it a reality? Do you have a shoebox full of poems, and you’re not sure how to share them with a wider audience? A writing mentor can help with this and so much more! Check out our Find A Writing Mentor page.
THE WRITING MENTORS LLC also helps train and support professional writers who are interested in becoming mentors themselves! Do you have a passion for writing, a skillset you’d love to share with other writers, and informational expertise about craft or the publishing process, but you’re not quite sure how to bring it all together as a professional writing mentor? Check out our Become A Writing Mentor page.
